This fall is going to be very busy. I will have about ten to fifteen works at the Trailside Gallery this August in Jackson Hole Wyoming. I have returned to some familiar themes and explored some new avenues in color and composition. I wish I could have taken a few more photos and documented a few more things, but I feel like I have no time to mess around getting paintings shot.
The Buffalo Bill Show is right around the corner up in Cody and I hope to have a lot of work between now and then. If anyone would like …more
Summer is a good time of the year but that really means Fall is almost here too. I often get myself in a bind when I tell galleries that I will have something for them soon. One year I will say ‘Yes,’ to one gallery and next year ‘Yes,’ to another and boy it can be tricky to keep things straight. I find myself holding on to paintings just a tad longer than normal and make them the best they can be. I have been seeing lots of great work lately, especially by the great masters. Zorn and Bruno Liljefors …more
My wife and I went on a trip to Stockholm. A trip we have wanted to do for quite a time now. I have always wanted to visit there to see what Bruno Liljefors paintings I could find and of course anything else of merit. There are quite a few great auctions to they have there this time of year. Bukowskis.se is a good one, Auktionsverket.se and Uppsalaauktion.se is another good one. Twice a year they have their important art auctions with wonderful artist from Sweden and other European deceased artist that somehow made their way to Sweden over the …more

This last year has been interesting. It has forced many artist to be very creative with their work. I have found that working hard is the key. I have attended and visited many shows from around the country and seen all kinds of work. I am now even more determined to hopefully paint my best work. Which means perhaps keeping my work around longer in the studio and not letting so many paintings go out the door. I am working now on some figural work and it should be ready by mid summer and especially the fall when I will …more

I forgot to post when the Night of Artist Show was on my site/blog. It took place the last weekend in March at the Briscoe County Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. Kent Ullberg the wildlife sculptor was the recipient of the Best in Show and also won the award for the artist who has helped western art in his lifetime. I guess you could call it a lifetime achievement award. Packed house around 1200 people attended the opening night and many of the painting were sold. I will post some of my work that was there…
Here is a new article featuring my new book, ‘In the North Woods.’ It was a very fun and hard project I did for my little boy Henrik. This article was given to me courtesy of Western Art Collector Magazine. If you would like any information on the paintings or about the book, please email at nicholascolemanart@gmail.com
I am trying to switch websites and bring over the photos that use to be in my blog over as well with the separating my work. I should have two galleries to choose from. ‘The West’ and ‘Wildlife.’ Hopefully soon this will all be addressed and fixed. I wish I was a bit more computer friendly but I will just have to be patient…So check back soon for further changes and updates. If you need any information please just email me at Nicholascolemanart@gmail.com
